Our theme for 2018 will be:

  • Foothills
    We have so many beautiful vistas of our local hills. We will visit many sites this year to capture a small segment of them.

Locations and dates to be determined. The tentative schedule is:

 

March 22 2018 -  Harvey Bear County Park

Paint some foothills near around this old homestead, now a park in San Martin. See https://www.sccgov.org/sites/parks/parkfinder/Documents/Wildflowers-of-the-Serpentine-Realm.pdf for some photos of common wildflowers at the ranch. Park at the entrance at the east End of San Martin Avenue.

Coyote Lake Harvey Bear Ranch County Park is located at:  10840 Coyote Reservoir Rd Gilroy, CA 95020.
Bear Ranch - from U.S. Highway 101 in San Martin, take the San Martin Ave exit. Proceed east on San Martin Ave for 2 miles. The entrance to the park is on the left, 0.25 mile east of Foothill Avenue.

3 May 2018 - -- Henry Coe State Park Bell station entrance

Paint foothills and Lover's Leap from the picnic tables near the gate at the back entrance to Henry Coe Park.

Take 152 east to Bell Station, turn left just before Bell Station. Follow the gravel road behind the Restaurant that leads to the back entrance to Coe Park.

17 May 2018 - Santa Teresa County Park

Paint the rolling hills and oaks of Santa Teresa Park. Take Bernal Road west into the park. Paint from Pueblo Day Use Area.

14 June 2018 - Rancho Cañada del Oro Open Space Preserve

4289 Casa Loma Rd, Morgan Hill, CA 95037.
From Morgan Hill take, Edmundson, Llagas or Willow Springs west to Oak Glen Road. Travel north on Oak Glen, then north on McKean to Casa Loma Road. Drive to end of public access portion.
From Highway 101, turn west onto Bailey Avenue. At the intersection with McKean Road turn left. Where McKean Road becomes Uvas Road turn right onto Casa Loma Road. Rancho Cañada del Oro Open Space Preserve is at the end of the public access portion of the road. Map to Rancho

 

19 July  2018 - Coyote Valley Open Space Preserve

Paint this newer 348 acre preserve.

16 August 2018 - Guglielmo Winery

13 September 2018-  Jackson Ranch

Views of the old ranch house and Anderson Lake. Note: The ranch house etc are off limits.

Take East Dunne avenue over the bridge and park at the sharp turn in the road near the old ranch house.

 

October 26 2018 - -- Henry Coe State Park Headquarters area

Paint the foothills from above.

Follow east Dunne to the park. Drive past the old ranch buildings to get a good vista.

 

8 November 2018 -  Late Afternoon at Clos -- Valley Oaks and Vines

2pm to Sunset. (Or Lunch at 1pm: bring a bag lunch to have with a glass of wine on the terrace before you start painting.)
