Three handsomely bound volumes from the popular nineteenth-century British periodical, 'The New Review'. This periodical focused on literary criticism, short stories, poetry, and more.Included in this set is Volume IV, Volume V, and Volume VI.Noted contributors in these volumes include Andrew Lang, Alfred Tennyson, Thomas Hardy, Henry James, Algernon Charles Swinburne, Thomas Carlyle, Edward Clodd, The Duke of Marlborough, Professor Tyndale, Emile Zola, and more.This periodical was edited by British magazine editor and Liberal Party politician, Archibald Grove. Handsomely bound in half calf with paper covered boards and gilt detailing to the spine. Externally, very smart, with some minor shelf wear and fading to the rear boards of volumes IV and VI. Internally, front hinge to volume IV strained. Remaining binding is firm. Light spotting to a few of the pages, particularly the first few pages of volume V, otherwise pages are generally bright and clean. Very Good Indeed. book.
